Chairman of Taiwan Circular Economy Network to speak at 2019 Educational Foundation Annual Conferenc

The Chairman of Taiwan Circular Economy Network, Charles Huang, was invited to speak at the 2019 Educational Foundation Annual Conference. The annual conference was directed by the Department of Lifelong Education of the Ministry of Education and jointly planned by 30 educational foundations nationwide.

Mr. Huang pointed out that the transition towards a circular economy requires long-term education. Whether it is the cultivation of values or changes in market and consumer trends, investing in education is the key to enable changes. The implementation of education does not only come from the public sector, the civil society plays an important role in driving the transition as well.

Mr. Huang also stated that the transition to a circular economy is an indispensable path for Taiwan. The circular economy is a crucial leverage to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It also allows us to meet our own needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

This year's Education Foundation Annual Conference was based on the principles of "communication, learning, growth, cooperation, development." The conference centered around how innovative education drives creativity, caters to diverse development of the society, and connects global resources. The Minister of Education Mr. Wen-Chung Pan stated that non-governmental and non-profit educational organizations are an important resource and force to promote lifelong education, and he hopes to integrate more resources to promote Taiwan's education.
